longing is a thing i understand so well

there‘s many things i know that i cannot tell

the difference between day and night has faded

 

the people that pass by

don‘t look me in the eye

tears of joy

are running dry

the wheel is up and turning

 

 

all i wish for today

is a strangers‘ smile

on my way home

 

that fact is that i think that i hardly know

how to turn the wheel, or where to go

one step at a time

that‘s where i started

 

the signs we use

they mean so much to me

even though i think they don‘t properly see

all the things worth being captured
